Boiler servicing in Bolton

Annual boiler servicing in Bolton

A yearly service keeps your boiler safe, keeps it running efficiently, and keeps the manufacturer's warranty valid. Book it before the cold weather and you're far less likely to be ringing us in January with no heating.

Why bother

Why a yearly service matters

A boiler can seem fine right up until it isn't. A service is the cheap way to find out what's going on inside.

It keeps you safe

We check that the boiler is burning gas properly and the flue is getting rid of the fumes, including carbon monoxide, which you can't see or smell.

It keeps the warranty valid

Most manufacturers need a yearly service by a Gas Safe registered engineer, recorded in the boiler's service log. Miss one and a claim can be refused.

It catches problems early

Worn parts, small leaks and pressure issues are cheaper to sort in September than in the middle of a cold snap.

On the day

What a service includes

A proper service is more than a quick look and a sticker. We check the boiler inside and out, test that it's burning safely, and put right anything small while we're there.

If we find something that needs a part or more time, we'll explain what it is and what it costs before doing anything about it.

A typical service covers

  • Visual check of the boiler, pipework and flue
  • Flue gas analysis to check it's burning safely and efficiently
  • Gas pressure and burner checks
  • Condensate trap and pipe checked and cleared
  • Safety devices and controls tested
  • System pressure and expansion vessel checked
  • Service record filled in for your warranty

Booking

How it works

  1. Book a time

Ring or text 07939 129 771 with the make of boiler and a couple of days that suit you.

  2. We come out

The service itself usually takes [about 45 minutes to an hour]. Someone needs to be in to let us in.

  3. You get the results

We fill in the service record and tell you how the boiler is doing, in plain English.

  4. Same time next year

[Owner to confirm: reminder by text when the next service is due.]

For landlords

A service isn't a gas safety check

They sound similar and they're often done on the same visit, but they're different jobs. A service looks after the boiler. A gas safety check is the legal inspection of every gas appliance in a rented property, and it's the one that gets you a certificate.

If you let a property, you need the check every year. The service is strongly recommended too, and we can do both in one visit.

Service or safety check?

  • Service: keeps the boiler efficient and the warranty valid
  • Service: recommended every year for every home
  • Safety check: covers every gas appliance, fitting and flue
  • Safety check: a legal requirement for landlords, every 12 months

Questions

Boiler service FAQs

How much does a boiler service cost?

[Owner to confirm price, and any discount for a service and gas safety check together.]

How often should my boiler be serviced?

Once a year. Most manufacturers ask for it to keep the warranty valid, and it's the best way to catch problems before they turn into a breakdown.

How long does a service take?

[Owner to confirm, typically around 45 minutes to an hour for a standard gas boiler.]

Will a service keep my warranty valid?

For most boilers, a yearly service by a Gas Safe registered engineer is a condition of the warranty. We fill in the service record in your boiler's manual so there's proof it was done. It's worth checking your own warranty terms, as they vary between makes.

Which boilers do you service?

All the main makes, including Worcester Bosch, Baxi, Viessmann and Vaillant. If yours is something less common, ring and ask.

My boiler is working fine. Does it still need a service?

Yes, that's the best time to do it. A service is about finding the worn part or the small leak before it stops the boiler, not after.

When is the best time to book?

Late summer or early autumn, before the heating goes on for the winter. Any time is better than never, though.

Due a service?

Ring or text 07939 129 771 to book. We're on the phone Monday to Saturday, 8am to 6pm.
